Those with a TypeE personality have a unique
way of living and working in the world. Because of this, they
can often find themselves in the midst of many problems with employers
and in relationships. But these problems don't just crop up overnight.
There seems to be one common mistake that occurs quite consistently
for entrepreneurs, entertainers CEOs and others with a TypeE personality
who find themselves about to fall over the edge. It is the first
of four warning signs that they have entered the TypeE Critical
Zone and a fall is imminent unless positive changes are made.
1. Boredom
Boredom
is the first indication that you're approaching this TypeE Critical
Zone. Surprisingly, it is one of the most difficult warning signs
to detect because it occurs amid a whirlwind of being too busy.
If
the boredom is left unchecked, you will unconsciously turn your
powerful positive creative passion into a very passionate crisis
situation for yourself and those you live and work with. If a
course correction isn't initiated soon, it then degrades into
a cascade of unpleasant consequences for all concerned,

2. Worry
The
second warning sign in the TypeE Critical Zone is a dramatic increase
in the amount of time spent worrying about things. But there is
hope. Worry is nothing more than creativity all dressed up with
nowhere to go. Your creativity bounces about shouting excitedly,
"Let's play! Let's play!" But you respond, "Sorry,
I'm too busy right now." At that point, just like a two year
old, your creativity goes looking for a problem to get your attention
with. And it will find one. A BIG one.

3. The 2am Wake-up Call
Those
who ignore the second warning sign will be blessed with warning
number three - a 2 a.m. wake up call. At this point in the TypeE
Critical Zone, you are solidly entrenched in running the project
that you have created, which you know you shouldn't be doing.
You will then get a wake up call two - three hours after going
to sleep, when your R.E.M. or dreaming sleep begins.
Since
you have been too busy during the day to be creative in a positive
way, your theta brainwave (present during dreaming, hypnosis,
meditation and states of creativity) jumps to life and, thinking
you are ready to play, wakes you up. "Wow!" Your creativity
shouts. "Am I glad to see you. I thought you'd never show
up!" It then delightfully opens your eyes, ready for some
fun.
You
glare at the clock knowing that you're not going back to sleep
anytime soon. You are now committed to be wide awake for about
an hour and a half (the length of our usual sleep cycle) at which
time you begin to plan, speculate and oh yes, did I mention WORRY
- before returning to sleep.

4. Crisis Management
The
fourth warning sign flashing before your eyes is that wherever
you look, all you see is crisis. At some point you realize that
you've abandoned your dream job, for a job in crisis management.
Not a very smart trade.

The
Walking Dead
The
final realization that you've failed to turn your life around
will be when you wake up one morning and decide to stay hidden
under the covers. Huddled beneath the blankets, you become aware
that you and your body have become numb. You have now joined the
ranks of the walking dead.
The
raging river of worry, doubt, crisis and fear that normally engulf
you each morning has become eerily silent. You have flipped your
emotional feelings switch to OFF. You watch your life disappear
from view, plummeting over the edge. Next stop, clinical depression.
I
remember one high-powered client I was working with. Our session
together had been a real eye and heart opener for her. Her TypeE
personality had become caught in the downward spiral of the TypeE
Critical Zone. As I detailed the predictable patterns of the TypeE
personality and it's associated problems and opportunities, the
depressed, listless person who had slumped into my office 45 minutes
ago was gone. It looked like the weight of the world had been
lifted from her soul, and she wiped away the last of her tears.
"I've
always known that I'm not like most other people," she whispered.
"But I finally understand why, and that it's OK. In fact
it's better than OK. It really is a gift. Knowing that I no longer
need to try and fit into the norm is somehow comforting,"
she told me.
Adjusting
herself in the office recliner, she began to smile. She said,
"I also like the fact that there are others out there like
me - successful, bright, passionate and creative, who love living
on the edge of life - and they can actually relate to my way
of being in the world. It feels like I've just been released from
a prison!" We both laughed.
I
ended our session by teaching her the essential strategies and
techniques employed by highly successful TypeEs. I encouraged
her to incorporate them into her life to maximize her unique physiology
and talents. It was just the beginning of a very significant,
positive shift in how she saw herself and the world around her.
We continued our sessions by phone every few months as she learned
to apply these new tools on a daily basis. Whenever she felt herself
slipping into her old patterns or ready to move on to another
level of a TypeE stage, she would contact me. Together we worked
on specific strategies for her next level of successful growth.
Over
the course of several years, she learned to connect consistently
with, and listen to, herself and her passion for life. The day
came when she was able to watch her old self-destructive patterns
fail to wrestle her into the TypeE Critical Zone. She refused
to play the old game of suffering and self-doubt. She was finally
free.
Wherever
she went from that moment on, she always tried to follow her heart
and focus on the things which "sparkled" her. She eventually
entered into the third, more spiritual TypeE stage and - true
to the TypeE pattern - her financial success and emotional happiness
surpassed the limits of what she and many others in her life had
thought possible. She went on to do humanitarian work on an unassuming,
but global scale.
I
have seen this pattern of success and happiness repeated in many
different ways by TypeEs who rediscover and care for their unique
gifts and special physiology. By creating the proper mental, physical
and spiritual strategies within their lives, their gifts flourish
beyond all expectations.
